Park and sail: to create a power plant water public transport system in the area

active 2 months ago

Silutes district is visited by more than 120 000 tourists every year, all of them reach the district by vehicles. Water tourism is the main development in the area. The main goal of tourists is to reach Nida by boat through the Coronian lagoon or inland voyages. The Coronian lagoon is included in the UNESCO heritage and belongs to Natura 2000. Water tourism is run by private businesses. All waterborne transport is motorized and tourists do not have the option of green tourism. A passengers ferry, which is powered by diesel, runs daily from Silutes during the high season, in other season ferry operates according to weather conditions and capabilities. The Ferry leaves CO2 in the water and pollutes it periodically. The main goal is to reduce pollution in the lagoon, improve the condition of the marine ecosystem, reduce the risk to the health of the coastal population. The water area does not have a harmonious system for regulating water transport flows. A unique mirror-powered lighthouse system will be developed with the help of scientific institutions. Created system will improve the course of the lagoon navigation system.

We are looking for a partner from Poland, Latvia, Estonia, Denmark, German and Sweden, who are in a similar geographical position, are connected by water and their water areas are polluted by shipping. Project partners should want to implement an integrated inland public transport system to reduce the impact on the environment and human health. Local authorities, scientific institutions
