Personal description | Social innovation centre (SIC) has been established in 2010 as a non-governmental organisation. There are five volunteers – professionals co-working to facilitate positive social change at na-tional and international and three permanent employees. During the 10 years period, more than 6000 learners have been reached by different non-formal seminars, workshops and even more by created online educational materials. SIC is dedicated to solve social challenges, raise knowledge on social innovation and social wel-fare in Latvia as well as facilitate and promote the best practices, knowledge and gained experi-ence at the international level. There are 4 main areas of focus: 1) social entrepreneurship; 2) youth employment and skills; 3) innovation for education, and 4) civic engagement. SIC pro-vides non-formal learning about social innovation, social entrepreneurship, political processes, and policy formation for disadvantaged society groups, integration and increase of society partic-ipation in social and political processes. Also, SIC promotes facilitation of innovative methods and tools for transforming educational practices, especially in relation to STEM, digital learning, AR. The main goal is to promote the idea and movement of social innovation and entrepreneur-ship as strategic tool for sustainable development. |
