Personal description

The Municipality of Pszczew is a unique rural area located in western Poland, within the Lubusz Voivodeship, bordering the Greater Poland region (170 km from Berlin and 100 km from Poznań). It stands out due to its exceptional natural, historical, and landscape assets, representing a model example of a territory with immense potential for the development of sustainable tourism based on the coexistence of humans and nature, and the support of biodiversity. The municipality covers an area of 177.7 km² and has 4,280 inhabitants across 12 villages. Remarkably, 85% of its territory is designated under various forms of environmental protection, including Natura 2000 sites, a landscape park, and a nature reserve. Forests account for 49% of the land area. Other key elements of the region’s natural heritage include peatlands, medicinal mud deposits, meadows, and wetlands — important refuges for biodiversity and significant reservoirs of organic carbon.
