The Centres for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment (ELY Centres) are responsible for the regional implementation and development tasks of the central government. Finland has a total of 15 ELY Centres, which are tasked with promoting regional competitiveness, well-being and sustainable development, nature conservation and curbing and adaptation climate change. The tasks of the ELY National Climate Unit include regional coordination, monitoring and promotion of the implementation of the National Adaptation Plan under the Climate Act. National climate unit's responsibility is also implementation of climate mitigation in land use sector and also the Medium-term Climate Change Policy Plan (MTCCPP) regarding argicultural sector.
