Safe’N’GO
active 1 year, 10 months agoThe project aims to strengthen civil protection preparedness by involving NGOs in the day-to-day operations of fire and rescue services. The Civil Protection Units of the Fire and Rescue Service will share best practices, improve evacuation and other procedures in case of major incidents. New precedents will be set, involving non-governmental organizations, tested in practice and presented at national level.
The project aims to review and update current civil evacuation procedures in the participating countries and compare them with each other. The Red Cross societies will share their experiences and work together to develop common civilian evacuation procedures. The fire and rescue services and the Red Cross will then test these procedures in practice and review and improve them as needed. At the end of the project, a large-scale exercise will be held in each participating country, organized by the fire and rescue services and the Red Cross. The exercise will involve not only the project partners, but also other interested organizations. The goal of the project is to improve the protection and security of civilians in the event of emergencies, particularly in the context of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. The Red Cross has extensive experience in training volunteers and involving them effectively in disaster response and humanitarian aid efforts, and the project aims to leverage this expertise to enhance the preparedness and capacity of the fire and rescue services to respond to emergencies.
