MindSpace
active 3 days, 17 hours agoMain idea of the project is to increase peoples or overall publics mental health resilience by designing and constructing public spaces that are specifically designed to enhance mental health resilience (like a beacon of mental health resilience).
This could be achieved by combining green nature-based infrastructure solutions, that have been proven to have positive impact on mental health, with specifically designed elements that help people relax and calm the everyday stress and think about their wellbeing. Elements for this could be different games, guides, creative arts therapy, scent therapy and exercises to perform etc. Exact technical solutions must be worked out together with public (mental health) specialist, engineers and local primary healthcare providers (mental health nurses). Mental health therapy elements and methods will be deployed at the site and also it will be used for organizing relevant activities and events. Additionally, project would carry out myriad of activities related to mental health and public infrastructure/places to increase awareness of mental health resilience and its relation to public infrastructure/places that we design (diagnostics of well-being and urban planning well-being score). Also local primary healthcare providers can use this public infrastructure for support and quide to patients with early developing mental health problems by piloting “social prescribing” on community. Social prescribing connects people to non-medical support to address these issues and other unmet needs. Social prescribing can help change the circumstances that can make people unwell. It can empower people to manage existing health problems, to get the right benefits or get back into employment. It can help people to connect and to grow in confidence.
Currently our consortium already has partners, that are also going to build demo sites, from Estonia, Finland, Sweden and Poland. Looking for partners (that are preferably not from forementioned countries) that are willing to: 1) provide support to demo site owners in terms of “how to design” public space with resilience to mental health problems in mind. 2) carry out public outreach activities, 3) conduct (lead?) awareness raising activities, 4) conduct (lead?) activities regarding to dissemination of results?
