GreenRoutes:Data-Driven Waste Management Across Borders
active 2 days, 4 hours agoThe challenge that many municipalities in Baltic Sea Region face is inefficient waste collection, which leads to unnecessart costs, increased environmental impact, and reduced satisfaction of citizens. The target groups facing this challenge are local municipalities authorities, waste collection companies, and residents who suffer consequences of ineffective waste collection and segregation by others.Our project aims to tackle this challenge by implementing a smart Municipal Waste Management System that leverages real-time data on trash bin fill levels. This data will enable waste management companies to optimize collection routes, reducing fuel consumption, vehicle wear, and CO₂ emissions by at least 30%. For residents, this means cleaner urban spaces and reliable waste services. For municipalities, it translates into cost savings and enhanced responsiveness, making public services more efficient, sustainable, and citizen-oriented.
