active 2 months, 3 weeks agoThe GeoSafe answers these challenges by creating a pilot digital platform for the identification, monitoring, and geospatial analysis of geohazards resulting from post-mining activities in the BSR. The GIS and web-based Geoportal platform will be integrated with a mobile application, providing a decision support system for local government and public administration. Its essential element will be a social monitoring module, allowing anyone interested to participate in observations. The mobile application will enable citizens not only to be passive end-users of the system but also to engage in data collection and alerting actively.
Mining has been present in Europe for ages. Its greatest boom was in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Different countries, depending on the level of technological and technical development and the level of environmental awareness, have different procedures and solutions for waste disposal or revitalization of post-mining areas. Depending on the size of the mining sector in a given country, the systems for documenting waste dumps or post-mining pits and monitoring them may also be different. Therefore, the exchange of knowledge and experience in this area will significantly impact the quality of the project’s results and products
