Future-Ready Water Supply Infrastructures
active 6 months, 1 week agoThis project aims to develop and demonstrate the effectiveness of smart sensor systems in optimizing water supply infrastructures.
The expected outcomes include innovative smart sensor systems, integrated material flow management tools, adaptive management concepts, and guidelines for wider implementation. This project will contribute to future-ready water supply systems and provide valuable insights for sustainable water management stakeholders.
Pilot sites could be chosen to demonstrate the effectiveness and practicality of the developed technologies and concepts. The project will involve multidisciplinary expertise, including water engineering, environmental science, biochemistry, photonics, microelectronics, data analytics and management.
It could focus on three key areas:
1. Resource and Energy Minimization: Develop innovative technologies for reducing resource and energy requirements in water supply processes through integrated material flow management and environmental impact assessment tools.
2. Management and Operational Concepts: Create adaptive management and operational strategies that can respond to changing conditions such as resource availability, climate change impacts, and population trends, leveraging real-time monitoring and decision support provided by smart sensor systems.
3. Interconnected Water Infrastructures: Explore solutions for integrating traditional and nature-based water infrastructures, enabling decentralized and intermunicipal supply concepts for both rural and urban areas. This includes promoting
