Our concept is the belief that adaptation requires a holistic approach to ensure that decisions made at the street, neighborhood, and city levels are coherent, effective, and sustainable. Our approach is based on the observation and analysis of interactions between physical events, people, and natural objects, revealing how processes intertwine and interact, changing the urban ecosystem.
We combine environmental data, advanced remote sensing technologies, and spatial analyses to deliver detailed, implementation-ready adaptation solutions for local governments.
COOLCITY is a suite of planning tools that enables the inventory, evaluation, and planning of nature-based solutions in urban areas. Using high-precision data acquired by MGGP Aero, we develop analytical and cartographic products that visualize the current state of the environment and identify areas of concern.
Our solutions help local governments to:
– implement climate change adaptation strategies and plans,
– make decisions based on reliable data and expert knowledge,
– efficiently plan sustainable investments in urban space,
– monitor and report urban development using objective indicators,
– exchange experiences and good practices with local authorities from Poland and across Europe,
– educate and engage residents in key environmental issues.
Interdisciplinary team: The CoolCity project is delivered by a consortium comprising:
– MGGP Aero – project leader,
– University of Łódź, UNESCO Chair of Ecohydrology and Applied Ecology,
– University of Warsaw, Faculty of Economic Sciences,
– Ingenieurgesellschaft Prof. Dr. Sieker mbH,
– City of Wrocław.
Together, we integrate expertise in GIS, remote sensing, data analysis, hydrology, botany, climatology, and spatial planning, supporting local governments in Poland and the European Union on their path toward effective climate change adaptation.
The project is led by MGGP Aero, which contributes the experience of a business entity in delivering environmental projects. The company specializes in acquiring high-quality Earth observation imagery from airborne platforms. In line with its development strategy, MGGP Aero has expanded its activities to include advanced remote sensing data analysis and the transformation of such data into practical insights and knowledge about the state of the environment. Through its innovative approach and modern technologies, MGGP Aero effectively supports the management of natural and urban spaces, delivering projects for cities and national parks. An in-depth understanding of market needs and growing climate challenges led to the creation of the comprehensive CoolCity solutions, designed to help cities adapt to climate change.
