Autonomous mobility in rural areas AMRA
active 1 month, 1 week agoBackground and problem definition
A well-developed public transport infrastructure is essential for the future of rural areas, the people who live there and businesses. Due to poor bus frequencies and connections, dependency on private cars is high, which leads to a heavy burden on the climate (including greenhouse gas emissions).
Although there are technological solutions for autonomous mobility in public transport, they are technologically complex and/or labor-intensive. As a result, they have not been established yet. Rural areas therefore require affordable, more flexible and easy-to-implement solutions.
Solution through small and robust autonomous systems
Expanding fiber optic networks in conjunction with 5G/6G mobile network options offer entirely new opportunities for the use of autonomous mobility in rural areas.
Outsourcing complex computing processes to a cloud solution combined with robust small electric vehicles reduces susceptibility to faults and ensure greater flexibility and cost savings.
A corresponding system for logistics applications in Brandenburg (Germany) is already in the implementation phase. The knowledge and experience gained to so far, will enables a fast introduction of a safe and need-based transport system.
Who are we and who are we looking for?
We are a business-development agency in east Brandenburg who already has expertise in autonomous driving functions and 5G wireless connectivity as well as in economic and legal aspects
Now we are looking for partners who are autonomous driving enthusiasts and/or want to address the last mile in rural areas. Together, we would like to roll out autonomous personal transport in practice.
