Touch nature – an innovative model of biology learning through contact with nature
active 1 year, 10 months agoThe aim of the project is to increase the interest in biology and increase knowledge by 20% in children aged 7 to 14 by developing and testing a model of practical activities in contact with nature by the end of 2025.
The classes will consist of observing nature and caring for it:
– planting grasses, shrubs, flowers, trees.
– setting nesting boxes for animals and insects, bird feeders.
Children will be more aware of the changes taking place in nature. They will also know what the needs of plants and animals at different stages of development. They will strengthen their belief that they have an impact on the reality around them.
To implement the project, it is necessary to rebuild the central park in Pruszcz Gdański. Separation of parts for practical classes and the purchase of gardening equipment.
The partners will also conduct field activities with children. Depending on the needs, it will be necessary for the Partners to modernize or equip the green areas to conduct classes and purchase the necessary gardening equipment.
The project will have 3 stages
1. Development of the model and preparation of the area for practical classes
A model of active biology learning in contact with nature will be prepared together with partners and experts in biology, pedagogy and working with disabled people.
At the same time, the area in the central park in Pruszcz Gdański and with other Partners will be prepared for the classes.
2. Model testing
Classes will be conducted for 10 months. During this time, people working on the model will observe how children acquire knowledge and what should be improved in the developed model.
3. Implementation of the model
After the model testing phase, a study will be conducted with 3 partners to verify whether the developed and tested model is an effective support in the science of biology.
In case of positive test results, the model will be included in the learning system of the Partners and disseminated as a good practice.
