Resilient urban water governance in times of water crises
active 4 months, 4 weeks agoThis small project idea refers to the effectiveness of municipal water policies in the face of escalating water crises.
Extreme weather phenomena that appear more and more often herald growing problems, primarily with a periodic, sudden excess of water alternating with droughts. The project aims at analysing good practices in water resource management for resilience to water crises, providing an assessment framework for water crisis management.
The project idea comes from a team of researchers from Cracow University of Economics (Poland) interested in resilient water management in cities. Initially oriented towards Polish towns, this project aims to include an international dimension allowing for responding to unpredictable challenges.
We are looking for local authorities and NGOs from the BSR. Local authorities are required due to having data needed for evaluating critical areas determining resilient urban water government. As water governance is not only in the hands of local government, we also notice the role of NGOs in facilitating cooperation between different institutions and providing training and expertise in water-related issues.
