”Environmentally Sensitive Traffic Management in Urban Port Areas (ELSA)”
active 1 month agoThe project sketch of “Environmentally Sensitive Traffic Management in Urban Port Areas (ELSA)” focuses on the air quality management in combination with traffic control in urban areas.
Port of Hamburg intends to establish automated measurements of emissions and weather data along heavily frequented roads. The calculated pollutant values will serve as basis data to inform road users about the current situation and recommendations for alternative routes or times of the day will be provided. Furthermore, adaptions of traffic management system (e.g., switching gateway traffic lights, configurable coordinated traffic signal system switching) will be used to improve traffic flow and reduce emissions on those heavily frequented roads. The utilisation of V2X technology makes it applicable to both freight and public transport and help reduce pollution and improve traffic management in urban areas.
We are looking for partners who are interested in the development of better cargo- and public transport solutions in port cities under the consideration of air quality and the following example key aspects as basis for activities within the proposed project:
– Harmonising mobility systems
– Deploying green & multimodal transport solutions
– Applying digital solutions (e.g., big data analytics, real-time data processing, intelligent transport systems)
– Advancing low-emission, green, smart solutions (using innovative technologies and planning infrastructure)
– Fostering renewable fuels
Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans strategic approach to deal with complexities of smart and green mobility topics can also be included.
Project start would be first quarter of 2024 and project run time 3 years (36 months).
The budget per partner is estimated to be 150.000 to 400.000 Euros at a co-financing rate of 80 percent. You get your staff cost funded, but you can also claim cost for external experts, travel and (to a minor extent) equipment.
