Development of the raw material base and its processing for needlework

Development of the raw material base and its processing for needlework

active 6 months ago

Nowadays war between Russia and Ukraine strongly influences on Poland and other EU countries. Many refugees, especially women and children flooded into Poland and neighbouring countries. It will cause problems with workplaces and shelters for them in the nearest, short and long term. Together with war international economic links which supply raw or processed materials and textile goods have been broken between EU, China and other overseas countries. Hemp for fibres cultivation could be a material base for fibres production at a local level. During fibres production a lot of shives occurs as a by-product in an average proportion 25% of fibres and 75% of shives. Shives mixed with lime and cement compose a so called hempcrete. Hempcrete owns very good isolation properties and can be used for insulation of building. It let pass water steam what is unique property which it distinguish from other mineral materials or from for example Styrofoam. At this moment it is cheaper material in compare with Styrofoam. In rooms insulated or constructed from hempcrete fungi or molds are not exists. Buildings constructed with hempcrete implementation maintain humidity inside rooms at constant and friendly for humans level what is very healthy for peoples. They can be easily recycled on environment friendly materials. Hempcrete accumulates CO2 on long terms in buildings walls. Hemp can capture atmospheric carbon twice as effectively as forests while providing carbon-negative biomaterials for architects and designers, according to Cambridge University.
Hemp fibers consists of 15% of so called long fibres and 85% so called cottonine. From long fibres very strong ropes, cords or strings can be produced. Cottonine owns similar properties as cotton and can be processed on well-known machinery from cotton industry. Yarn for neddleworks is the final product of cottonine processing. It is expected that local communities around Baltic Sea Region can produce and process hemp on neddleworks, and sell different kinds of nedleworks (textiles, clothes and other consumer goods) by Internet on local, national and international market. In the neddleworks production could be involved not only local communities inhabitants but also war refugees from Ukraine. The project aims in design, construction and capabilities demonstration of 3 exemplary lines for hemp processing on yarn, fibre and hempcrete in 3 different regions. Hempcrete could be used for buildings construction with wooden skeleton.
