Deep Platform
active 1 week, 4 days agoHistorical contamination of the Baltic includes dumped munitions, wrecks and sediments contaminated with terrestrial emissions in 20th century. Multiple ongoing projects from INTERREG BSR, INTERREG South Baltic and Horizon are currently adressing those issues. There is a need to create cooperation platform for knowledge exchange, coordination of activities and stakeholder involvement between the projects. There is also a need to incorporate results of past projects and activities in that regard both from international and national projects. Project platform will be used to this end, as well as to provide a larger picture – including aspects related to maritime economy and protection of underwater cultural heritage.
Since historical contamination is not limited to the Baltic, project aims at inclusion of scientistys and stakeholders of other maritime areas of EU, to exchange knowledge and experience with such entities, as well as to present lessons learnt in the Baltic Sea region to other european seas.
