Closed Loops Initiative – A way to resilient and climate neutral rural societies
active 4 months, 2 weeks agoAs described below, we are searching for partners for this project idea of using blue protein and green protein productions in closed loops, facilitated by climate neutral, Wind- , PTX and excess heat energy to produce low to zero waste proteins on land. As a larger project idea, different closed loop productions could be tried according to environmental and regional preferences and optimised for low – to zero waste production and reusing resources in closed loops.
In the forthcoming years, the municipality of Holstebro is set to transform into a hub of renewable energy, anchored by the Thor offshore wind park project, an extensive array of solar collectors, and wind turbines integrated with Power-to-X (PtX) facilities. This setup is engineered to yield green hydrogen and excess heat, achieving both economic efficiency and climate neutrality.
Parallel to this energy endeavor, the Closed Loop Blue Protein Initiative is conceptualized to address the increasing global demand for food through sustainable means. This initiative strategically aligns with contemporary challenges in aquatic farming, incorporating an integrated approach. It envisages the deployment of blue protein facilities, including mussels, fish, and algae production, in tandem with state-of-the-art energy and waste management systems.
Central to this initiative is the application of a closed-loop system, characterized by its emphasis on resource efficiency and waste reduction. This approach contrasts with traditional linear models by advocating for the recycling and repurposing of resources. Biological waste, commonly directed to landfills, is instead utilized in biogas production, thus contributing to the circular economy and enhancing the energy efficiency of the entire system.
The initiative is further distinguished by its integration with PtX and hydrogen production facilities. Surplus heat, a byproduct of these processes, is repurposed to facilitate blue protein production, optimizing conditions for aquatic life and contributing to a reduction in overall energy consumption.
The implementation of this project is not isolated but is contingent upon effective collaboration with regulatory entities, ensuring compliance with environmental and safety standards. Blue Proteins Closed Loop Initiative , therefore, represents a comprehensive model for sustainable urban development, encapsulating principles of ecological balance, technological integration, and community-oriented progress.

Dear Marek,
thank you for your interest in the project idea. Sorry for the late response, we have some delays because of illness at the moment.
If you are interested, I would suggest to have a Teams Meeting about the different goals and possibilities for collaborations . If you could send me an email address and a date/time I would set up the…[Read more]
